Our All Species Parade in May, in keeping with tradition, will be a celebration of any kind of species. The term “species” refers to the smallest unit of classification for animals and plants. Therefore, we are talking about REAL living things, from the beautiful planet earth. As real as the Lochness Monster, Bigfoot, and green martians may seem in our culture, these imaginative creatures must stay at home the day of the parade. The All Species Parade is a chance for us to show respect for, and honor the interconnectedness and harmony of the natural world.Through the parade we hope the broader community will reflect on, and deepen their own relationships with the Earth and all her precious species, further learning through artful participation how to be good stewards towards each other and the environment. There are so many wonderful, REAL LIVE beings on this earth, and we want to celebrate them all! Why not wear green, tell your friends to do the same and together, be a lawn! Something that simple brings our attention to the details of the world around us.
